Vizag to develop three waterfalls
The waterfalls, located around 20 kms west from Narsipatnam, is one of the most beautiful picnic spots.
Visakhapatnam: The APTDC has identified three more waterfalls in Vizag Agency for development where they want to start a cafeteria and build view points to draw visitors. Presently, the Katika waterfalls has been attracting adventure tourists from various parts.
The inclusion of Dharamatham waterfalls in Golugonda area in the tourism development plan is set to make it one of the most sought after tourism destination in Vizag. The waterfalls, located around 20 kms west from Narsipatnam, is one of the most beautiful picnic spots. There is a Lord Shiva temple and a statue near the waterfall where water flows round the year.
Executive Director of APTDC, Vizag, R.S. Naidu, said they have created some facilities at the waterfalls such like bathing showers and a hall with more to come up in future. Apart from the Dharamatham waterfalls we have decided to create facilities at Tadiguda waterfall near Ananthagiri in Vizag Agency at a cost of Rs 35 lakh and Sarugudu waterfalls at Nathavaram mandal spending Rs15 lakh in the coming days. “Waterfalls in Vizag Agency flow round the year. Their natural beauty has been drawing sizeable crowds to watch the nature’s splendour from close quarters. There are around 12 watersfalls in Vizag region but we are developing three that flow perennially,” said RS Naidu.“As of now, we are focusing on creating facilities at three waterfalls in Vizag Agency while introducing more water sports at Mangamaripeta and Yarada beaches in Vizag city because water sports can attract huge number of tourists,” said District Collector Pravin Kumar.
Many adventure enthusiasts have been choosing Katika water fall near Bora Caves in Vizag Agency for rappelling down at the 450 ft high Katika water fall, the district administration has been chalking out plans to promote Katika as adventure tourist spot by creating the facilities at the spot.
