HIGH ALTITUDE TREK OF ARMY FLAGGED OFF
The Tripeak Brigade of the army successfully completed a unique initiative with one of its Commanding Officer leading a motivated group of young officers from the Sangla Valley, across the daunting 18000 feet Lamkhaga Pass, into Harsil across the mighty Zanskar Range which had commenced on August 13.
The team was flagged in at Chandimandir by Lt Gen Surinder Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command on Friday.
“This “Young officer’s” high altitude trek under a Commanding officer of a unit is part of an unprecedented venture by the Chandimandir based Western Command, to foster a spirit of adventure amongst it’s officers.
“The young officers underwent a grueling acclimatisation programme & training schedule that stood them in good stead while negotiating treacherous terrain and the vagaries of weather to emerge victorious and underline their indomitable will and determination” a statement from the army said.
