Pharrell Williams visits Wildlife SOS-run elephant conservation centre in Mathura
Grammy Awards winning musician and record producer Pharrell Williams visited the Wildlife SOS-run Elephant Conservation and Care Centre at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh to meet rescued elephants and help promote their conservation in India.
‘Protection, support’
The American singer-songwriter, who was in India to unveil an apparel collection, came to the centre on Monday evening after visiting to the Taj Mahal in Agra. The artiste interacted with the Wildlife SOS team, the elephant care staff and veterinarians, besides extending support to elephant protection and conservation in the country.
Talking about his experience with the gentle giants, Pharrell said, “Congratulations Wildlife SOS and good luck for the universal wok that you do here and the effect you have on anyone who sees this.”
Wildlife SOS co-founder Geeta Seshamani and deputy director veterinary division Ilayaraja welcomed the singer. Ms. Seshamani added: “Pharrell’s visit to the centre will help bring global attention to the plight of elephants in India. He was visibly moved by stories of the rescued elephants. We hope for his continued support to the cause.”
Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family recently spent quality time with rescued pachyderms at the centre.
